About a year ago, sharing a few songs on WhatsApp, old time friends and synth, drum machines, low pass filters, LFO and sample&hold enthusiasts, Ekranoplan and Mouth of Indifference have the idea of remixing each other. The result is so pleasing to everyone that they move on to remixing another one of each other's songs, then they think of writing a song together and slowly EkranoMouth, the two-headed creature born from the minds of Emiliano Tortora, Alessandro Gamba and Riccardo Chiaretti, AKA Ekranoplan and Mouth of Indifference, takes shape. A sonic journey that goes from the psychedelic Kraut of Hawkwind, Neu! and Tangerine Dream, to the 70s Tanzmusik of Krafwerk, to Skinny Puppy’s and Front 242’s EBM, passing through On-U Sound’s, King Tubby’s and Andrew Weatherall’s acid dub, Throbbing Gristle’s, Cabaret Voltaire’s and Clock DVA’s alienating industrial, Wire’s and Magazine’s abrasive and clever punk and naturally trhough the clear post-punk/electro influence of DAF, Liaisons Dangereuses, early Depeche Mode and Fad Gadget, but all of this veared towards contemporary obscure sounds, those dear to Cold Cave, Lebanon Hanover, Austra and Boy Harsher, among others. The album’s set list is completed by the remakes of two pre-existing songs for each project. MOI worked on The Nazi in Me and Brutal People, form the album Counterpoles, and Ekranoplan did the same with White Shoes and Towers of silence, featured on Deutsch-Italienische Freundschaft.
